Cleaning the product
How to Clean Leather Boxing Gloves
1. Necessary Material
Before you start cleaning, make sure you have:
- A soft, clean cloth.
- Neutral soap or specific leather detergent.
- Warm water.
- A non-abrasive sponge.
- Moisturizer or skin balm.
- A glove deodorant or moisture-wicking pad (optional).
2. External Cleaning of Gloves
-
Remove surface dirt : Use a soft, dry cloth to remove dust, sweat and dirt from the outside surface of the gloves.
-
Make a cleaning solution : In a bowl, mix warm water with a little mild soap or leather cleaner. Avoid using harsh cleaners, which could damage the leather.
-
Surface Cleaning : Dip a non-abrasive sponge in the soap and water solution, wring it out well and gently wipe the surface of the gloves. Be careful not to wet the leather too much, to avoid drying it out or ruining it.
-
Rinse : Wipe down with a damp cloth (water only) to remove any soap residue. Wring it out well before wiping the gloves to avoid excessive moisture.
-
Drying : Leave the gloves to dry in the open air, in a cool, dry place, away from direct heat sources such as the sun or radiators, which could dry out and crack the leather.
3. Skin Care
- Moisturizing : Once the gloves are completely dry, apply a small amount of moisturizer or leather conditioner. This will help keep the leather soft and prevent cracking. Use a soft cloth to spread the product evenly and allow it to absorb completely.
4. Internal Cleaning of Gloves
-
Eliminate moisture : After each workout, it is important to dry the inside of your gloves to prevent the formation of bad odors and the proliferation of bacteria. You can use absorbent paper or a clean towel to remove excess sweat.
-
Deodorization : Use a glove-specific deodorant or place moisture-absorbing sachets inside your gloves to keep the inside fresh and free of unpleasant odors.
5. Periodic Maintenance
- Check the condition of your skin regularly : If you notice any cracking or dryness, reapply your balm or moisturizer.
- Ventilate your gloves : Leave your gloves in a ventilated area between workouts to ensure proper drying and prevent mold from forming.
6. What to Avoid
- Never immerse your gloves in water : This could irreparably damage the leather and internal padding.
- Do not use harsh chemicals or solvents that may damage the leather.
- Avoid exposing your gloves to the sun or direct heat sources to dry them more quickly: this could cause the leather to dry out and crack.
